1 Corinthians 1:18-19 NLT
The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction!
But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. As the Scriptures say,
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.”
“Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards,
you need to become a fool to be truly wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God.
As the Scriptures say, “He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.”
And again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise; he knows they are worthless.”
1 Corinthians 3:18-20 NLT
When you approach the bible, you must approach it with humility.
“When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples,
“Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” “Well,” they replied,
“some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.”
Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?”
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you.”
You did not learn this from any human being. Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’),
and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.” Matthew 16:13-18 NLT
You could be listening to your parents or pastor or reverend, but when you are asked who Jesus really is,
what will your response be? Above is the response of the disciples.
At first, the question may have stunned them – they could have suddenly realised they didn’t
agree with any of the different options people thought Jesus was.
The reply from Peter was a personal response. Peter didn’t say my parents said, my brother said or you said.
He simply stated what he thought was true. You’ve got to own your faith.
God is going to ask everyone on this earth once they cross over how they think his Son is.
Man can’t reveal anything to you, just like Jesus said.
Is your faith built on man? Jesus is building His church, which the gates of hell cannot prevail.
The church of England was built on adultery. It’s only those who own their faith that will stand.
The boldness to speak the truth is given by the Holy spirit. You must know Jesus Christ for yourself.
If anything is contrary to the word of God, just say you are not a part of it.
The world’s wisdom will get you no where. If you start a church to make more money,
is that a church of Jesus? Just as we talking about it last week, the desire of sinful nature will lead you to death.
God had to stoop all the way down to our level to about God.
The rabbit hole of human wisdom – you find yourself in a dark tunnel that you can’t come out of.
God said my word is truth, not facts. There is a difference. We have to be very careful. Empty yourself.
You can never fill a bottle that is already filled. That is what Jesus means by being born again – start again as a blank canvas.
Everyone that comes to Jesus must come empty. If Peter was full, he would have never met Jesus.
He was an expert fisherman, but still when Jesus asked him to move his boat because the fish will be there,
he listened. God is not finite, yet there are debates to make God’s gender neutral.
Before you know it, God will become ‘it’ – just a force.
You make decisions based on the wisdom of men. Fast forward to 100 years,
what will people think of your decision? What do you think of how people cooked food 100 years ago?
If you lived back then, would you believe anyone told you could cook without fire?
Now we have induction – the moment you put the pot on the induction hob, it’s already boiling.
Let’s look again at 1 Corinthians 3:18-20;
“Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards,
you need to become a fool to be truly wise.” For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God.
As the Scriptures say, “He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.”
And again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise; he knows they are worthless.”
The worlds wisdom is foolishness to God.
“There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him.
But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son.
And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world,
but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.” John 3:18-19 NLT
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said,
“I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness,
because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12 NLT
Do you know how it feels to walk in darkness? Its confusing.
That’s what happens when you don’t trust in his word.
“So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27 NLT
Male and female he created them. End of story. That’s the truth.
Someone said that there is more truth (not facts) in the book of genesis than quantum physics.
