This is a really tough question - one most of us would rather avoid. However, the very fact that we query our existence inevitably leads us to ask about how it all began.
God is the self-existing all-powerful creator of the universe, who exists outside of time and space. Many refer to God as “the universe”, “infinite intelligence” etc. Evidence suggests that for Him to create time, space, and matter, He must necessarily transcend all of these.

The material universe is vast and seems almost inexhaustible - have you ever stared into a clear night sky and tried counting the stars? God told a Jewish man called Abraham to look up at the sky and count the stars if he could...

At some point in our lives, we’re enthralled by nature and consumed with the burning questions about meaning and purpose. We grapple with morality - an innate desire for justice. Where did all this come from? Why am I here?

There is evidence to suggest that we are intelligent beings, given the advancement in science and technology that we’ve made. We are mentally endowed and adept at creating things and we’re very good at it. Is this a coincidence or did we just take after God?
The creation account in the first book of the bible - Genesis, details how God, in the beginning, created the heavens and the earth. We read further on as God speaks of His intention to create man in his image and likeness, with very specific details on how man was made.

So God is a master craftsman, an artist like no other - he paints bright stars in the dark nights, vivid colours of the spring, emotive paintings of the sunsets, and the most beautiful corals of the reefs. From the highest mountains to the deepest oceans, His works are majestic, powerful, elegant, delicate, swift, captivating, and simply enjoyable to behold. God is wonderful and man is the crowning glory of all His work - the icing on the cake.

Man, like God, is also very creative, and innately seeks many things that are inherently God - Justice, righteousness, peace, goodness, purity, truth, immortality. The bible tells us that righteousness and justice are the foundations of God’s throne and that truth and mercy go before His face.
God is holy - this is perhaps, the most crucial character of God - He dwells in unapproachable light. God is light and in Him, there is no darkness at all.

There is so much to learn and discover about God. A lifetime is not enough. Despite all His ineffable characters, He is our Father and He is looking for a relationship with you. Why not get to know Him? If you’re in a quiet place, close your eyes for a minute and speak to Him about your deepest thoughts - He is listening.
